Growth

It’s quite amazing how fast and how much I’ve grown in the past few months. It’s only been 5 months into 2018, and I’ve grown so much in a relatively short period of time. I feel like I’m on an accelerated path of growth, that has started since Jan 2017, and that the journey is only getting more and more exciting. I am learning so much and so many new things, and I love it. I’m so excited to learn. This is the education that I’ve always wanted in my younger years but was never supplied with it. And now I realise that some things you have to seek to educate yourself. The resources are out there, you just have to want to do it. There are 3 main things on my plate at the moment: 1) I am learning and honing my skills in teaching yoga. I’ve only just recently graduated and there is still much that I have to do to internalise my teaching skills. All the technicalities and nuances that teaching yoga requires – it all comes with practice and that is what I need to do more of right now. I am fresh with my skills learnt from YTT and this is the time to concretise my skills so they become more automatic. 2) I am learning a lot about marketing at my internship. Even though there’s stuff like the actual content writing which I find very tedious, especially if it’s a topic I have no interest in, I do also get to learn a lot about the various platforms and digital marketing strategies. Like SEO, LinkedIn and all that. I have a high interest in all these things because I feel that they are very relevant and important things in the real-world context. These are the important things that make a business successful, besides providing a high quality product or service in the first place. Marketing is definitely an important skill to learn and I am thankful for the opportunity to learn about it at my internship. 3) I am also spending a fair portion of my time on learning about investing. Even though I do not have a huge capital to start investing with at the moment, I take a great interest in the subject because I find that it is one of the important keys to have that will unlock a financially secure and ultimately more abundant future. Money is not everything, but what money can do is buy you freedom. Freedom of time, freedom of choice, and the privilege to invest in experiences or resources that can help you grow. And I believe that it’s a learnable subject, even though the nitty gritty and all the jargon can be a little bit off-putting. But as with anything that I set my mind to, I truly believe that I will be able to accomplish all that I set out to achieve.

Anyway, the intention of this post was just to take stock of my growth and general progress throughout the months and years. I’m growing tremendously, and taking stock of my growth by categorising/cataloguing the things that I learn each day gives me a sense of structure and organisation.

I am not the person I was 3 years ago, and I will not be the person I am 3 years from now. Heck, even 1 month from now. I am growing so much everyday, it sometimes feels hard to catch up with myself and to internalise everything properly before moving onto the next thing. But I love this feeling. I love learning and growing. It gives me energy and I thrive on it. It makes me excited! I love growing. I don’t think I will ever compromise my growth for anything.
